Legal Share Wizard

CHALLENGE

Even the most basic legal case comes with a mountain of documents that clients must collect and attorneys must share according to highly specific requirements. We were challenged to bring digital efficiency, organization and collaboration to a traditionally paper-plagued process.

SOLUTION

Legal Share Wizard facilitates the entire discovery lifecycle through a secure, court-compliant file sharing system. The app contains pre-built discovery requests, a builder for custom requests, progress tracking, and file.

RESULTS

With a hub for collaborating over documents and leaving notes or objections for the opposing council, attorneys and their clients can get to the root of the case faster, at a lower cost — enabling better outcomes and higher throughput.

A family-law solution that enhances the efficiency of the legal disclosure and discovery process

Legal Share Wizard, or LSW, is a collaboration platform for attorneys, their clients, and counterparties. It makes the compliance process easy and organized, minimizing the operational costs of managing discovery.

We build this product in partnership with Anthony Shaleesh, LSW’s CEO and Founder, who was on the client-side of the discovery process when he saw room for improvement: in efficiency, in organization, and in overall ease.

At a high level, LSW facilitates attorneys’ creation, assignment, completion and submission of discovery requests and financial affidavits through secure file-sharing between lawyers and their clients, counterparties and judges. It generates Certificates of Compliance and other court-admissible legal documents.

If you’re unfamiliar, as I was at the start of this process, Discovery Requests are legal requests for documents and information from a client or counterparty. They can be lengthy, difficult to understand, and complex to navigate. We organized each request visually - within which are multiple sub-requests and sub-sub-requests - nested them, and provided details to make them easy for clients to understand and respond to, which they could do by either uploading the requested document or providing a pre-filled alternative response.

Clients and attorneys can collaborate in real time in this process, after which the attorney reviews the responses and any client notes, signifies anything that needs re-visiting, and eventually when it’s complete, submits the request with any notes or objections to the opposing council — all within the platform.

They can then generate a court-admissible Certificate of Compliance and Disclosure History.

The app includes pre-built Discovery Requests and a “builder” for creating custom requests. The case dashboard shows progress on all requests.

The platform also includes a tool for filling and submitting financial affidavits, which — as with Discovery Requests — we organized and designed for a simpler user experience.

All financials affidavits or documents uploaded to requests are saved, organized and searchable in a secure document library for later use.

This project was a beast, and we’re proud of it. We’ve loved working with Anthony, one of the nicest guys in Miami, and look forward to watching this product continue to grow.
